Harbor Premier 2014/15 Jr Academy Information
Harbor Premier Jr Academy Program
Boys & Girls U7-U9
About the Program:
Welcome to our Jr Academy Program. This program serves as the first step into Harbor Premier and allows U7-U9 players the opportunity to play against like competition from other Regional Club League (RCL) teams around the Puget Sound area. The program will run in three stages (Summer, Fall, Spring) and each are explained below.
Teams will train 2x per week for 3 weeks per month. The 3 weeks on 1 week off approach allows these younger players to have regular breaks, families to plan vacations/events, and keeps interest in training high. Teams will also compete in 3 tournaments:
- Westsound Summer Classic - June 27-29
- King of the Hill Classic - July 11-13
- Tyee Cup - August 15-17
Friendlies may also be set up with surrounding clubs during this time to get a few more game experiences for the players.
Teams will train 2x per week. This will be continuous and not follow the 3on/1off training split any longer. Teams will compete on the weekend in either Jamboree format or team may be entered into RCL U10 6v6 if deemed appropriate by Youth Director and Coach.
Spring (End of January-April)
Teams will break in December and January. Training will resume towards the end of January with 2x per week training. Teams will again compete on weekend in either Jamboree format or team may be entered into RCL U10 6v6 if deemed appropriate by Youth Director and Coach.
Focus at these younger ages will be nearly 100% technical. Individual ball mastery, coordination and control is essential before the more complex tactical side of the game can be taught. Games are an opportunity for these players to use these technical skills in a competitive environment. The emphasis will be placed on this development and not on the win or loss. It is our desire as a club to use this Jr Program to foster a love of the game while preparing these young players for the more competitive environment they will face ahead. It is not designed to force the game to the point that the player losses desire to play or burns out early. Fun must still be at the heart of all training sessions and games at this age and we will ensure this is exactly what we strive to deliver.
Registration fee for Jr Academy program 2014/15 program will be $750. This will include:
- Fall & Spring league fees for players and team
- Referee fees for all league games
- Administration fees
- Coaching fees
- Goalkeeper Training
- Field rental for games and training
- 2 Training T-Shirts and 1 Game Jersey
Tournament Registration - $60
The will be an additional tournament entry fee required as well and will be approximately $60 per player but will depend on final number of players on each team. This $60 will cover entry into all 3 tournaments.
Uniform - $50-$150 potentially
Players will be provided with one game jersey and training t-shirts. Team/player will decide if they wish to purchase additional items such as second jersey, shorts, socks, warm-up jacket, warm-up pants, backpack. The full uniform package will not be required for Jr Academy participants.
Team Building/“Love of Soccer” Building Events
We are strong believers that the game is not only contained on the field. In order for these young players to develop their love of the game, they must experience both the game and the team environment in different ways. Because of this we will build in optional events such as attending higher level games (Sounders, Pumas, Sounders U23), attending older age Harbor Premier games, organizing team community service/volunteer opportunities, watching big games (World Cup, ect) together. These will be optional but some may have an additional cost associated with them.
Program Director: Shawn Alire
The Jr Academy program will be run by Youth Director Shawn Alire (USSF A). Shawn will oversee all teams and be in constant communication with each Head Coach. Shawn will develop the curriculum for the entire group and work with each coach on delivery. In addition, Shawn will be out running training sessions and attending games as his schedule permits.
- Pat Madden
- Bruce Arrington
- Bizhan Nasseh
- Kerry Woolley
- Andy Schell
Harbor Premier is very excited for the growth and development of these younger players. We are confident we have put together a great program that will greatly benefit these younger players as they embark on their competitive soccer career. We are also confident that we have designed it in such a way that the young player will foster a deep love of the game that will hopefully stick with them for the rest of their lives. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the program further, please feel free contact us.
Thank you and we look forward to a great 2014/15 season!
