Why Choose Harbor Premier?
Player growth, nurture, and overall experience through the game of soccer, has & will always be at the forefront of our identity.
The primary goal of Harbor Soccer Club is to provide intentional development pathways and competitive opportunities for youth soccer players in all ages and all ability levels.
HSC currently offers playing opportunities at all levels of ability from recreational soccer to Regional Club League levels. The starting point for U6 through U9 players is our Jr. Academy Program (Bambini) designed to focus on nurturing a joy for the game and falling in love with the ball. The next progressions fall under the Harbor Premier program; the Prospective Development Phase (U9-U11), the potential development Phase (U12-U15), & Performance Phase (U16-U19), intentionally cultivating environments based on the needs/ages of the players. Individual information regarding each phase can be found on our
What is the tryout procedure?
All players, both new and existing, regardless of age or status, are required to try out each year.
How many sessions does a player need to attend during the tryout process?
Players should attend every session to ensure adequate time for proper evaluation.
Can Players Play Up an Age Group?
Players are required to participate in tryouts within their designated age group. However, if a player demonstrates exceptional proficiency and finds consistent success within their current age group or environment, opportunities for advancement may be considered at the discretion of the coaches and program directors.
How are teams formed?
HSC’s will identify and compare players through a framework to ensure players are placed in the appropriate environment for their growth.
What factors are the coaches considering when evaluating my child?
When identifying players, the coaches are looking for a few things:
Is a player engaged and proactive?
Meaning, how do they interact with the training environment? Do they listen? Are they coachable? Are they respectful?
How well does a player recover from adversity?
Meaning, we all make mistakes, how we respond is what is evaluated!
What ability does the player possess?
Meaning, be brave in showcasing your "wow moments!"
What game intelligence does a player possess?
Meaning, what is their success rate when presented with a "problem."
Who will coach my child?
Coaches for established teams are announced in advance of tryouts. The directors reserve the right to shift coaches after being announced to accommodate the best interest of the players and club. Some of our coaches also coach High School and/or College teams. Due to the time and travel commitments of these programs, a guest coach may be needed during their seasons.
Do existing teams stay the same during the next season?
Team transitions in the U7 – U8 age groups may be necessary to keep players of similar abilities and commitment levels together. U9 and older teams are subject to change at each tryout. The DOC’s will aid in formation of any hybrid teams necessary to compete in winter and/or spring leagues.
Can I bring an existing team into the HSC?
HSC sponsors an open tryout for all age groups. You are welcome to bring a group of players to the tryouts but teams will be selected as described herein.
